Stock bed and mini-meadow at rosybee

Stock bed and mini-meadow at rosybee

It took us about 5 months to get the new nursery site fully functional and tidy. By June I was able to sow some seed mixes to cover all the mud that building works inevitably generate.

We have a patch near the entrance that we wanted to make look pretty so we have put the ‘stock bed’ here. This is essentially a herbaceous border were we grow plants that can only be propagated from division. We have also sown a wildflower mix where I can collect seed for some of our native plants. We boosted this area will annuals just to make it look pretty while the perennials get established.

Around the rest of the site we have sown a low maintenance grass mixed with various clovers so we can strim it to keep it tidy but still provide flower for pollinators. Every site has its weed challenges and it looks like ours will be dock.

It’s really satisfying to see the site soften as it ‘greens up’ and we love our tea breaks with the view.
