Poppy pollen and honeybees
These perennial poppies release their pollen on the new flowers that open each day. The sides of the flower are still quite vertical and the result is that the bees get pollen all down their backs while scrabbling to get back out of the flowers bowl.
Really fun to watch!
This perennial oriental poppy is a really stunning plant, flowering in May and producing giant dramatic flowers in reds, oranges and sometimes plum colours, that are 80cm high and each flower is 15-20cm across. The plant 'clumps-up' over time to create a nice block.
