Beehives ignoring the eclipse but loving the sun

Friday was the day of the partial solar eclipse and apparently bees sometimes show signs of knowing they are coming but for ours it was a very cold and cloudy 0930 in the morning so there was no sign of them at all.

However later in the afternoon the weather became sunny and actually warm - 14 degrees - and the bees poured out of their hives to collect pollen. I noticed a couple of them completely doused in yellow dust which is probably from the willows that are now in full flower.

Lovely to see the cycle all begin again

can you see how many have yellow pollen on their legs?
